The Smith & Wesson Model 41 is the top of the line in rimfire pistols. Used by national level competitors for acute precision in competition, the Model 41 is considered one of the best .22 target pistols ever manufactured.The Model 41 was introduced in 1957 with a 7 3/8 in. barrel, starting with serial number 1401. At approximately serial number 16000, relief cuts at rear of trigger guard were added. At approximately serial number 27500, the model number stamping moved to the right side of frame. The 5 in. barrel was introduced in 1959.
